About the Winery - Tokaj-Hétszőlő winery The estate winery known as a winery with a rich history producing unique wines. Located in the heart of the Tokaji region on the southern slopes of Mount Tokaji. In 1502, members of the Garai family simply selected the best 7 plots into one wine estate, hence the name of the winery, which translates as 'seven plots' in Hungarian. Since 1772, the estate vineyards were classed as Premier Cru, the soil is volcanic soil on which a thick layer of loess soil spreads, the vineyards facing south. The impact of the Tisa and Bodrog rivers create a comfortable and suitable climate for the natural development of botrytis, which is responsible for creating the Noble Rot, which is essential to create the special Aszú dessert wines. Today all the 55 hectares of vineyards of the estate are cultivated strictly in organic way.
