About the Winery - Von Hövel winery Von Hövel winery has been located since 1803 in the village of Kunz in the sub-region of Saar in the Mosel wine region, the most famous and northern Riesling region in Europe. The vineyards are located on very steep slopes near the Mosel River, which has a significant role in ripening the grapes in such a cold area where ripening is very long which balances the formation of sugar in the grape along with high acidity. Maximilian von Kunow is a 7th generation winemaker who turned the family winery into a dry Riesling producer, from organic farming, relying on late ripening and indigenous yeast fermentations, without chaptalization.. The winery is a member of the VDP Association of Germany’s finest wineries
